I’m Maryam, and I’m one of the co-founders of Luna Midwifery Care. I completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Midwifery and a Masters in Family Health Education. Over the course of my training, midwifery truly became my passion! I immigrated to Canada with my family in 2006 and enrolled in the International Midwifery Pre-Registration Program (IMPP) at Toronto Metropolitan University.
I have been practicing midwifery for over 22 years, I have attended more than 1000 births in Iran and Canada, however, the miracle of pregnancy and childbirth never ceases to amaze me. I am honoured to assist clients and their families in this special time.
I am a strong believer of informed choice discussion, personal autonomy, and enjoy helping clients to make their own decision. I thoroughly enjoy working with people and always strive to provide the best care possible. I seek to provide care that is not only woman-centered but also sensitive to a woman's social and cultural context. I feel very privileged to be part of the midwifery profession.

I’m Nargess, and I’m one of the co-founders of Luna Midwifery Care. I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Midwifery from The University of Tehran School of Medical Sciences and had worked as a registered midwife in Iran from 1996 to 2009 and conducted more than 1000 deliveries. My last position before moving to Canada was instructor and faculty member at Azad University’s Department of Midwifery.
After moving to Canada, I received my Canadian accreditation through the University of British Columbia MMBP program. I have been working as a registered midwife in BC since 2012 and was honoured to welcome about 600 babies at surrey memorial hospital. I am committed to providing holistic care to families, emphasizing woman-centred care by supporting mothers’ informed decisions.
I have been able to connect, with women and their families, at some of the most significant moments of their lives. Supporting them through their journey to motherhood, acting as their advocate and have been privileged to share in their joy of becoming parents.
I’m Maryam, and I’m one of the co-founders of Luna Midwifery Care. I graduated from Midwifery program in 2000 and practiced as a midwife since 2001 both in hospital and in the community in Iran. My love for my job comes from getting to build meaningful relationships with families as they go through one of the most amazing and challenging times in their lives. Having the opportunity of working in both rural and urban practices provided me with valuable experience.
While attending the International Educated Midwifery Bridging Program (IEMBP) in 2016-2017, I did my work placement with the Surrey Mama Midwifery Practice, and then joined the practice as a Registered Midwife in April 2018. I believe strongly in the value of continuity of care and in a woman's right to make informed choices and be able to choose her birthing place.
I feel privileged to be a midwife, and to be able to help empower the mothers of our community through their birth experience.

I graduated from the University of the Fraser Valley with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2022, marking the beginning of my career in healthcare. Joining the Best Beginning team at Public Health immediately after, I began supporting families prenatally and during the postpartum period to achieve healthy outcomes for mothers and babies through education and guidance.
To deepen my expertise in perinatal care, I completed Perinatal Nursing Theory 1 - Healthy Childbearing Experiences & The Newborn at BCIT. Additionally, I completed the Douglas College Breast/Chestfeeding Course and earned certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) to expand my knowledge and expertise. Throughout my career, I've worked closely with families, witnessing various challenges and triumphs in establishing and maintaining breastfeeding.
My approach in care is grounded in empathy, empowerment, and evidence-informed care ensuring mothers feel confident and supported in their breast/chest feeding journey. Driven by a passion for maternal and child health, I am committed to positively impacting families through education, support, and empowerment during their most vulnerable and transformative moments. I look forward to teaching each prenatal and breastfeeding class at Luna Midwifery Care.

Growing up, it was normal for me to hear and talk about my mom and aunts’ mixed blessings of pregnancy, and being the translator to navigate the health care system. As a result I felt the call to be a midwife and passion to support pregnant families in their culture, community, and care decisions.
In the past few years, I had the privilege to practice continuity of care and collaborate with other health care providers to many families all over Fraser Health. I can’t wait to meet you in your pregnancy journey and strive to empower you!

I graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2017. I started working as a labour and delivery nurse at a large tertiary hospital in 2018 and have been working there ever since. Through this work I have gained an extensive knowledge of maternal and newborn care.
Following the birth of my first child in 2020, I experienced firsthand the unexpected challenges of breastfeeding. With the guidance and support of a lactation consultant, my breastfeeding journey was transformed—an experience that inspired me to pursue my International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification. I completed this training while on maternity leave with my second child in 2023, motivated by a desire to support families navigating similar challenges.
My approach to care is empathetic, trauma-informed, and evidence-based, with a focus on empowering parents during the early postpartum period. I strive to create a supportive, non-judgmental space where families feel heard, confident, and cared for. I am honoured to join the Luna Midwifery team and look forward to supporting you with thoughtful, individualized postpartum and lactation care.

I had the opportunity to work in the second largest Teaching hospital in Ghana, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. It serves as the main referral hospital for about half the regions in Ghana.
